Fashion Show: Women of Substance Celebrity walk for Indiva
Indiva is the premiere house of designer fashions in GTA. Renown Yorkville fashion house INDIVA presents, for Mosaic Festival 2012, an exclusive designer trunk show and celebrity walk. First time ever in Mississauga, the iconic styles from Indian designers are presented in a unique fashion event at the Art Gallery of Mississauga. This show is exclusively for ladies and the fashion models include members of Canadian diasporas who have made a place for themselves in Canadian community through their work and service. This unique show will honor them and inspire others.
This fashion show is presented in collaboration with Art Gallery of Mississauga.

Models include "Linda Thomas has been the executive Director of the Mississauga Arts Council since February 2000. A Master level graduate who attended Guelph, York and Wilfrid Laurier Universities, Linda is a career executive with a solid history of not-for-profit management at many levels. She has lived in Mississauga for nearly 30 years and has two children and one grandson. She is an active member of the Mississauga 'Pops' Concert Band playing the French horn & sits on numerous Boards and committees."
"Shehla Khan is a professional engineer working in the Canadian nuclear industry. She has also designed major transit facilities, such as the Union Station and the Karachi Airport. As a certified interior designer from Sheridan College she has appointed an art gallery, banquet halls and a restaurant. She is a graduate of Landmark Education and member of the Toastmasters club, and pursues a passion in classical Indian dance and singing, and acting for Western theatre. Shehla currently volunteers for the Canadian Cancer Society and hopes to work with other charity organisations in Pakistan."
Zehra Abbas is the Founder and Executive Director of YTGA (Youth Troopers for Global Awareness), a youth led non-profit organization mobilizing and empowering young people for social justice through campaigns, workshops and the arts. These young advocates address domestic and international social issues through creative writing, visual arts, theatre and spoken word. In the past year, Zehra and YTGA have been working to create a social enterprise in Mississauga called Studio 89, part fair-trade cafe and part youth artademic resource centre.
Viera Kononenkova is a co founder of AV Mortgages, company providing financial solutions to lenders and borrowers. Viera was born and raised in former Czechoslovakia . She lives in Mississauga since 2001 and is an active member of Port Credit Business Association, Credit Valley Lions Club, and other community organizations.
Atiya Khan started her career as a highly successful model said to have been a pioneer & inspired the emerging modeling and fashion industry in Pakistan. Retiring at the age of 21 to undertake a leadership and pioneering role in the fields of producing, directing, researching, writing and presenting for the advertising & television industry in Pakistan. This background merged with interest, knowledge, active participation & patronage of Sufism to produce some success in promoting Sufism and moderate Islam through a wide variety of channels.
Councillor Bonnie Crombie from Ward 5, Mississauga became councillor following a by-election last year. A long-time Mississauga resident, Bonnie has been a strong advocate for our City and its residents. She has a lengthy history of community leadership and volunteer service.
Anu VIttal is an entrepreneur, visual artist and active community leader. Currently, Anu is a marketing consultant representing Vasco Travels as General Manager for their Canada and US market. Anu serves as Festival Director for the Mosaic Festival 2012, past President of the Mississauga Arts Society and Director of Marketing for Artsmarketing Services who promote the efforts of not-for-profit organizations across North America. In 2008, Anu was the recipient of the Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Award issued by the Government of Canada and Ministry of Immigration and Citizenship. Anu is also a speaker and ambassador for the Prepare for Canada program that helps inspire and guide new immigrants within their communities. She serves on the board of Acces and Sampradaya Dance Creations.
Indra Naidoo Harris is a well known TV personality who has entered politics and much loved personality in her constituency.

Misbah Ahmed is the featured artist for Mosaic festival this year. This award winning, internationally trained artist, is presenting her ceramic jewellary for this fashion event. She fuses her ceramic arts with ancient techniques of vivid enamel work heavily embellished with 22 karat gold garnering her recognition and many awards. Her work is described as a synthesis of East and West - a crystallization of her heritage and experience of her travels around the world.
Misbah is creating special art pieces for Mosaic Festival this year as a community commission. These pieces will be used to honor our sponsors and artists as mementos for Mosaic Festival 2012 presented by No Frills.
