CALL FOR Poets: Celebrating 50 Years of Mississauga - Landmarks Edition!

In honor of the City of Mississauga's milestone 50th anniversary, we at the Canadian Community Arts Initiative are excited to announce a special artist call! For the local poets.
We invite local poets to submit short poem, four to five lines, that capture the essence of the theme, “Share the love;” alluding to harmony Peace and love in communities. This subject aims to select pieces of poetry, that will be displayed as painted upon stones in a park.

Theme:

To share with general public a vision of love and harmony that joins us all through poetry. Messages of love from all communities participating in the anniversary, will enhance the experience of common humanity and values. Public would be able to read these verses in an area where pedestrian traffic is encouraged and people can read the verses as they stroll through the park.

Submission Guidelines:

Proposal Deadline: April 10, 2024
Eligibility: Open to all poets in the Region of Peel. (English Only)

How to Submit:

Submit a short introduction, full name, telephone number along with the four or five lines verse via email To mosaic.rsvp@gmail.com
Subject: Landmark Mississauga Poetry
Only selected poets works will be accepted and notified by April 20th, 2024.
Exhibition will take place in an outdoor venue on July 1st, 2024.
Selected artist will be paid honorarium.

Prizes and Recognition:

Selected artworks will also be featured in a special exhibition as the part of the Mosaic Festival on 2-3 August
Selected Artists will be paid honorarium for their art work

Submission Deadline: April 10, 2024
Notification of Selected Poets: April 20, 2024
Poets info and images submission: May 20, 2024
Exhibition mounted: July 1, 2024.
